“How do you know, what you know?”
The Theory of Knowledge (ToK) is one of three core elements in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), a gold-standard programme for pre-university students. The rigorous course stretches a students’ creativity and problem solving skills, to encourage critical thinking and analysis during their IB Diploma journey – only fitting for the the next generation of future STEM & Business leaders.
As part of this core element, students complete a Theory of Knowledge essay of 1,600 words as well as a ToK exhibition, where they choose 3 objects that are meaningful to them, then apply ToK concepts to present these to a live audience.
Our Westbourne College (Singapore) students undertake Theory of Knowledge studies with Dr Vahagn Vardanyan, and presented their exhibition via video link with our Westbourne Sydney campus – a true testament to education beyond borders through Westbourne’s global classrooms. Our students in Singapore had a rewarding experience presenting to their counterparts in Australia, and new connections and friendships were forged.
“Working with our Singapore campus allows students to share ideas from a multitude of perspectives,” says Dr K, Westbourne Sydney.
The IB programme in Singapore is recognised as a ‘gold standard’ alternative to GCE A-Levels and other diploma programmes, particularly for students preparing to study business at university – locally or abroad.
